Gula Melaka Syrup

  • Water 70 ml
  • Gula Melaka (palm sugar), roughly chopped 150 g

Tea

  1. Gula Melaka Syrup

    • Place Gula Melaka and water in a heavy bottom pan and boil over medium heat until the Gula Melaka melts.
    • Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes until the syrup becomes thick and colour resembles a rich caramel. Extra syrup can be stored in the fridge.
  2. Tea

    • Steep Lipton Yellow Label tea bags and diced dates in hot water for 4 minutes.
    • Divide Gula Melaka syrup into 2 glasses.
  3. Assembly

    • Pour the hot tea in each glass and serve immediately.
